Vehicle Compatibility Notes

The vehicle models listed above represent platforms on which this rooftop tent is commonly used by customers.

It is important to ensure that both your vehicle roof and roof rack dynamic load ratings are sufficient to support the tent.

Tent Specifications

Dimensions

  • Open Dimensions: 94 × 61 × 60 in
  • Closed Dimensions: 88 × 61 × 8 in

Weight & Load Ratings

  • Tent Weight: 274 lbs
  • Weight Capacity: 1,200 lbs
  • Crossbar Load Capacity: 728 lbs

Rear Hatch & Tailgate Clearance

Rear hatch or tailgate clearance depends on the relationship between the vehicle’s usable roof length and the tent’s closed length.

If the tent closely matches or exceeds the usable roof length, rear hatch or tailgate clearance may be limited, and full opening may not be possible.

Common solutions include:

Depending on the vehicle and mounting position, the following solutions may help improve clearance:

  • Repositioning the tent forward on the roof rack
  • Using a full-length platform rack
  • Adding rack risers or spacers
  • Upgrading rear hatch lift struts
  • Using a bed-mounted or external support system (exoskeleton rack), where applicable

Load Capacity & Support Systems

If your vehicle roof or roof rack does not meet the required dynamic load capacity, an external support system (such as an exoskeleton rack) may be required to safely carry the tent.

Important Disclaimer

Always verify specifications with your vehicle and roof rack manufacturer prior to installation.

Who This Tent Is Best For

  • Overlanders who want fast solo setup
  • Drivers who need a low-profile hard shell
  • All-season travelers
  • Campers upgrading from soft-shell tents

Installation & Setup Guide

  • The Alpine 61 requires at least two people to lift and position. Three are recommended due to its weight and size.
  • Place the tent on top of your vehicle roof rack, bed rack, or trailer, centered and balanced to your preference.
Tip: If using a hatchback, check rear door clearance before final positioning.
  • Insert the supplied mounting hardware and plates into the lower T-channels, using two bolts per corner.
  • Run the bolts through the mounting bracket holes, then hand-thread the nuts onto each bolt.
  • Confirm alignment and balance, then tighten all hardware evenly until secure.

Wedge Mode Setup

  • Release the two rear latches by lifting the red tabs and unhooking them.
  • Push up on the handles to raise the tent into its aerodynamic wedge position.
  • Tuck the elastic cinch strap upward into the T-slot.
  • Attach the telescoping ladder at your preferred entry point.
  • Unzip and secure the door and window covers.
  • Deploy the window awnings and hang the shoe bags.
  • The Alpine 61 is now ready for wedge-mode use.

Full Pop-Up Mode

  • Unhook the two front latches from the frame.
  • Push upward to extend the tent fully into pop-up mode.
  • Pull the elastic cinch strap downward into the front T-slot.
  • Open all windows and skylight covers for maximum ventilation.
  • Zip up covers for privacy — the blackout coating ensures total darkness.

Setup Time: ~1 minute with practice.
Note: Recheck all mounting hardware after your first trip.
